The Belmont Career Centre is located in the Counselling Suite. It is a key resource for career and educational information. Students are encouraged to visit and check out our many resources such as interesting websites, tips on resume building and skill identification, employment and volunteer opportunities, labour market information and information on upcoming career events. Students are also encouraged to regularly view the Career Centre Bulletin Boards and this website for volunteer opportunities, paid work opportunities, career events and career information sessions.

The Career Centre staff are:
Mrs. O. Hyde, Work Experience Coordinator
Mrs. N. Nicholson, Career Education Teacher
Ms. Tanya Larkin, District Career Coordinator

Career Centre Services includes:

bullet coordinating work experience placements and career exploration.
bullet assisting with resume building.
bullet interviewing students before each work placement.
bullet coaching students on basic employability skills, such as cover letters, appropriate dress, confidentiality, work ethic and interviews.
bullet assisting with access to career resources, information and opportunities.
bullet supporting students in developing a career plan.
bullet advising students on Graduation Transitons requirements.
bullet planning career events such as college and university open houses, high school career programs and career fairs.
bullet scheduling speakers and information sessions.
bullet informing students of commuity paid postitions.
bullet regularly updating students regarding volunteer positions.
bullet providing a liaison between the school, business community, students, teachers and parents.

Mrs. Nicholson, Career Education Teacher is responsible for students applying for Accelerated Credited Enrollment in Industry Training (ACE IT) Programs and  Leading Youth to New Careers (LYNC) Programs in partnership with Camosun College.
